SARV
Information system SARV was created for managing geocollections and for storing, systematising and analysing different geosciences data. It is used by the researchers, collections curators, students, etc. of TalTech, the University of Tartu, the Estonian University of Life Sciences and the Estonian Museum of Natural History. Most of the data stored on SARV can freely be accessed via public web-based user interfaces, e.g., the portal of Geocollections of Estonia, the register of Fossils of Estonia.
A considerable part of research in geology is based on collections – many new discoveries have been made by studying the materials which had been collected and preserved earlier. On the other hand, collections are often built in the course of research or applied research, when it is necessary to preserve and make accessible the evidence of the research.
Information system SARV offers information about museum specimens, rock samples, core samples, locations, literature, photo archive and other geological data objects. Separate portals are devoted to Baltoscandian fossils and analytical research datasets.
